Books to study pathology in mbbs 2nd year

Pathology is all about the various pathological anomalies of body. So, it helps us to know that what happens in the body in various disorders - anatomy of organs, histopathology, symptoms etc. It has 3 parts - haematology, general pathology and systemic pathology. In practical, you will deal with microscopes throughout the year for histopathological slides. So if you know about normal histology well, then you will easily understand it.

It is a vast subject in mbbs 2nd year. It's a difficult subject and a medical student will find it somewhat difficult because firstly the content given in each topic is vast and to understand the concepts  is somewhat difficult and secondly even if we understand the concepts , we have to read it a lot of times in order to rattafy them. Also there is not a single book that you can study and learn. you have to make your own notes in order to have good understanding about the topic.

1. HARSH MOHAN

It's a standard book of Pathology.  I will greatly recommended it for university exams preparation .It is the best book for diagrams of histology. As in pathology, we have to make histopathological diagrams in exams, so this book contains excellent well labelled diagrams that you can easily draw in exams. Also the content given in this book is also very helpful. You will see the content  here in point wise manner. The language is easy to understand. As it is Indian author book, so it is compatible for indian students. But still this can't be the only book for pathology . Robbins is also required along with it.

2. ROBBINS

Robbins is the bible of pathology. It is a foreign author book and is also a standard book in pathology. Its content is awasome. It is very helpful to score in your exams as you will be able to generate good answer after studying this. But it lacks the good histopathological diagrams that are given in harsh Mohan. One advantage of studying Robbins is that by it, you will get more clinical knowledge. It is very helpful to build strong base. My sincere advice is to read this book properly in 2nd year because it's real importance you will understand later when you will prepare for pg entrance exams. As many questions in pg exam are asked directly from this book. You may find its language somewhat difficult to understand.

If I talk about my personal , I studied it's students edition (mini Robbins). I think that small Robbins is enough for a medical student because it contains all the concepts and information that a medical student requires to pass a medical exam. You can refer big Robbins if u want somewhat more detail about any topic. But big Robbins contains some extra things that we don't need to study. Moreover it is thick , more elaborate and contains irrelevant material. Rest is up to you. You can use either of them.

Now, you must know the ideal strategy to study pathology. Whenever you start any chapter, first of all find the most important and most lengthy topics of that chapter and read them thoroughly from Robbins and Harsh mohan . Take help of youtube videos like of osmosis and dr. Rubeul and other sources and try to understand the concept. These videos explain the concepts in a easy way. After you understand the concept, now make your own notes along with diagrams.  because at the time of exams, it will be your notes only that u will find most easy and quick to read. Small topics you can underline from book itself.

3. RAMDAS NAYAK

It is a very helpful book in passing exams . It contains everything in notes wise manner and also contains good diagrams. You will find here a lots of things that are given best than any other book like Gastric carcinoma etc.
I studied this book at the time of exams to cover my left topics and believe me it's a very student friendly book . So you can use it as a reference book

4. GEETIKA KHANNA

Books to study pathology in mbbs 2nd year

Its a concise book of Pathology.  every topics are in a concised way and upto the point. I studied very few topics from it. But I don't find it much helpful. This is because its content is not sufficient. Moreover, I found its language somewhat difficult to understand. So, I was not able to develop a good bond with this book .So you can use it as a reference book.

At last I would like to say best of luck for your studies. and don't take much panic . It's not that much difficult subject.  Just make notes of important topics because it is  the only thing that will help u in your final exams.
